Fish Diary Application - Spawns

This is where you enter information concerning each spawn.  Enter all the information you can so that you can look back on each spawn and see if there’s a pattern or something particular you did to produce a larger spawn.  Example:  water conditioning, feed, water temperature, lighting, etc.

As you can see on the screen shot below there are 4 tabs for information:

The information you can keep up with is:

  • Spawn ID # - You can enter alpha or numeric into this field up to 20 characters.  This is the unique ID# for your fish.
  • Male ID # - You will be able to choose this from the “Stock” file.  This is the ID# of the father of the spawn.
  • Male Name – You will be able to choose this from the “Stock” file.  This is the name of the father of the spawn.
  • Male Picture Location – This is the physical location on your computer of your fish’s picture.  There is a button for you to click on so you can go out on your hard drive and select your picture.  Once you have selected the picture file the picture of the fish will appear.
  • Female ID # - You will be able to choose this from the “Stock” file.  This is the ID# of the mother of the spawn.
  • Female Name - You will be able to choose this from the “Stock” file.  This is the name of the mother of the spawn.
  • Female Picture Location – This is the physical location on your computer of your fish’s picture.  There is a button for you to click on so you can go out on your hard drive and select your picture.  Once you have selected the picture file the picture of the fish will appear.
  • Grand Sire Paternal Stock ID # - This is the stock id # of the Grand Sire Paternal fish.
  • Grand Sire Paternal Description - This is the description of the grand paternal male who sired the fish.
  • Grand Sire Paternal Picture Location - This is the physical location on your computer of your grand paternal sire fish’s picture.  There is a button for you to click on so you can go out on your hard drive and select your picture.  Once you have selected the grand paternal sire’s picture file the picture of the fish will appear.
  • Grand Dam Paternal Stock ID # - This is the stock id # of the Grand Dam Paternal fish.
  • Grand Dam Paternal Description - This is the description of the grand paternal female who sired the fish.
  • Grand Dam Paternal Picture Location - This is the physical location on your computer of your grand paternal dam fish’s picture.  There is a button for you to click on so you can go out on your hard drive and select your picture.  Once you have selected the grand paternal dam’s picture file the picture of the fish will appear.
  • Grand Sire Maternal Stock ID # - This is the stock id # of the Grand Sire Maternal fish.
  • Grand Sire Maternal Description - This is the description of the grand maternal male who sired the fish.
  • Grand Sire Maternal Picture Location - This is the physical location on your computer of your grand maternal sire fish’s picture.  There is a button for you to click on so you can go out on your hard drive and select your picture.  Once you have selected the grand maternal sire’s picture file the picture of the fish will appear.
  • Grand Dam Maternal Stock ID # - This is the stock id # of the Grand Dam Maternal fish.
  • Grand Dam Maternal Description - This is the description of the grand maternal female who sired the fish.
  • Grand Dam Maternal Picture Location - This is the physical location on your computer of your grand maternal dam fish’s picture.  There is a button for you to click on so you can go out on your hard drive and select your picture.  Once you have selected the grand maternal dam’s picture file the picture of the fish will appear. 
  • Date Set Up – This is the date you placed the male & female in the tank together.  A popup calendar is provided to select your date.
  • Date of Spawn – This is the date you noticed the fish spawning.  A popup calendar is provided to select your date.
  • Date Fry Hatched – This is the date you started noticing the eggs hatching.  A popup calendar is provided to select your date.
  • Date Male Removed – This is the date you removed the male.  A popup calendar is provided to select your date.
  • Date Female Removed – This is the date you removed the female.  A popup calendar is provided to select your date.
  • Cross Type In Breed – Example: Brother/Sister, Son/Mother, Daughter/Father, etc.
  • Cross Type Line Breed – Example:  Niece/Uncle, Nephew/Aunt, etc.
  • Generation – Example:  F1, F2, etc.
  • Total No In Spawn – Total number of fish in the spawn.
  • No of Small – The number of small fish in the spawn.
  • No of Medium - The number of medium fish in the spawn.
  • No of Large - The number of large fish in the spawn.
  • No of Breeders Produced – The number of breeders produced from the spawn.
  • Male To Female Ratio – Example:  Your spawn produced 79 males and 32 females you would enter – 79/32
  • No of Culls – The total number of culls from the spawn.
  • Total Fish Sold – The total number of fish (males and females) sold from the spawn.
  • Total Income From Spawn – The total amount of money you made from the spawn.  US Currency only.
  • Water Chemistry – This field allows you to enter information about the water chemistry.
  • Water Temp – This field allows you to enter the water temperature of the spawning tank.  Example:  82 F
  • Feed Comments – This area allows you to enter any information concerning what you fed your fish.
  • Comments – This area allows you to enter any other comments concerning this particular spawn.
